Happy Father’s Day, to a man I don’t know.
I’d tell you I love you, but even love needs time to grow.
Now all I see is a silhouette of a figure who should have been here
And I’m writing to a “man” who wasn’t man enough to care.
Happy Father’s Day, to a man I don’t see.
Having to be my own role model, made a man out of me.
Now the gears are turning and my life has finally began
But you haven’t been there for me, so you can’t call yourself a man.
Happy Father’s Day, to a man that I wish I knew.
Although it hurts, I’d still give anything to spend some time with you.
You haven’t been here but you’ve had a big affect on me,
Because when I have my kids, I know exactly what not to be.
