Tardis – Paul Dennis Jr

The lights are both eerie and bright on this contraption I’ve created;

it wields the conditional strength of which could leave your dreams sedated.

its worth is so much, one could even name the object “Damn Near Priceless”;

its rarity so overwhelming, there is nothing close in likeness.

This contraption I go on about, I have yearned for it for ages.

Like a story holding a happy ending just beyond its pages.

This machine that I reference makes me lay my fears aside,

cause there can be no second chances once I dare step foot inside.

My destination? It is complex; but yes, my goal is to the past,

For it’s too late to fix us now but I swear I will make this last.

My plan is simple; I must journey back to before you met your ex.

I’ll show you how you should be treated; prove you deserve love, respect;

teach you to think with your head and not just what’s inside your chest,

Because once emotions overwhelm you they can be hard to suppress.

I’d swear that trust isn’t optional; love has no chance if you lack it.

I know your ex-boyfriend fooled you but I just haven’t been acting…

I’d prove your smile should be admired because it isn’t always there;

And that your beauty is consistent; love your eyes, your lips, and hair.

I’d admit your mind attracts me most, in a way that keeps you humble

and I would pray that this time, with no baggage, our love wouldn’t stumble.

I do regret that in this time, I couldn’t fix what we had broken.

maybe if i’d arrived sooner, the right words would have been spoken

This contraption i’ve created is my only hope for love,

although i’ve given you my all, it just won’t ever be enough.

And so i’ll travel to a time way back before you couldn’t trust a man

to hold it down for you, to ride for you, to follow through with plans.

I don’t think you’ll ever understand the lengths that I would go to

in order to reach the kind of love that we were meant to grow to…
