Blue –
You’re what I hate to feel
and what I love to see.
A plethora of you is upon this earth,
Yet you’ve made a home in me.
I’ve witnessed you take hold of oceans,
watched as you blanketed the skies.
I’ve seen you in the bruises on a face
Or in a young child’s eyes.
You make appearances in flames
when the fire’s grown too warm;
Shown your face in icy pastures
and in the lightning of a storm.
Yet you’re lasting; woven deep
into the soul of human beings.
Blue, you’ve been burned into our nature
but at times can still be fleeting.
Whether our origin in blue
is something we may never know..
But if I stopped myself from breathing
well then, back to Blue I’d go.
